If there is one thing everyone knows about gambling, it’s that bookies want their money. Not next week. Now. No, I don’t care that you got fired. I don’t care that you can’t pay the electric bill. You placed the bet, now give me my money.
But it seems the Redskins have become such a sad franchise that they have done the unthinkable – they’ve melted the hearts of some of those ice-blooded bookies. This week, people who bet on the Redskins to win and/or beat the spread were actually REFUNDED THEIR BETS by the folks at PointsBet because… well, because the loss was such a bad beat that I guess they couldn’t bear to keep the poor suckers’ money. They felt that sorry for the bettors, calling it their “Good Karma Payout.” [Note: Now, in addition to simply being socially embarrassing, it’s apparently bad karma to root for the Redskins. Good to know.]
Don’t expect this to happen every game day. The fact of the matter is that, with Snyder and Allen in charge, it’s always the better bet to pick the Redskins to lose. You know the old adage, “Fool me for twenty years running, shame on me.”
