The QB Limo

December 23, 2019

Remember when it was UNUSUAL to have a Redskins quarterback taken off the field on a cart?

It was way back in 1985 when Joe Theismann had that terrible leg break, and at the time, we thought that was one in a billion – that we’d never see the like again (and we hoped it would stay that way)…

Then along came RGIII in 2012 and we thought, “Oh no! Cruel fate! You hath struck again!” (We’re Redskins fans, and by default, we harken to an older era, hence the language.) But it had been a gap of 27 years and we thought, “Well, perchance it is merely our time anon.”

And once more we hoped we would never see something like this befall our QB again. Then… Alex Smith had a wee scrape just last year in 2018…

Which made even old-school folk such as ourselves start doing a little math. “It hath been just 6 years…” Then Colt McCoy took the field…

That injury came only 2 weeks after Alex Smith. Surely we would never see our beloved QB struck down again… until yesterday…

Wait. What? WHHHHHHYYYYYYY??????????

It’s so bad now, with all these Redskins QBs taken off the field, waving at the fans as if everything is okay, that they have taken to calling the injury cart “The QB Limo.” That way, it feels more like pomp and circumstance than the utter devastation it is…

See! Look! Waving while being carted away CAN’T be a bad thing, right?!??!

If only we knew why cruel fate struck our team so often. If only there was some reason or sense behind what is happening, someone to blame, some deal with the devil that has brought this plague upon us…

The Theismann thing… it was so long ago. It was an odd chance. But now? Something else MUST be going on… Oh, wait.

Now I understand.
